I am deeply saddened upon hearing of the passing of Kim Steinauer. She was one of my best friends through Grade School, and we spent lots of time together. We always had "Sleepovers" at each others houses. My first away from home experience for more than a week was when I attended Church Camp with Kim at the age of about 8 1/2. I was really homesick, but Kim kept me real busy so it wasn't so bad. One time when we were about 10, we decided to make some homemade doughnuts in a pan of oil on her stovetop while her mom napped on the couch. We put the pan of oil on the stove, turned it on high, and turned our backs to it to roll out our doughnuts. The next thing you know, the kitchen lit up like broad daylight behind our backs. We turned around to see huge flames shooting out of the pan, and getting dangerously close to the kitchen walls! We ran in and woke up her mom, who ran into the kitchen, grabbed the pan off the stove, burnt herself on it, dropped it face-up in the middle of their kitchen floor (without spilling a drop) and put the fire out with some baking soda. For years, the burn spot stayed in the middle of their kitchen floor as a reminder of mine and Kim's doughnut making experience, until her parents remodeled sometime later. Kim and I may have drifted apart some in Jr. High and High School, but I have always considered her a true and good friend, and a kind and gentle spirit. Rest in Peace Dear Kim, May the Good Lord hold you close to his heart.
A Friend Always, Lori Meyer (McCorkle)

The one thing I will always remember about Kim and school is her laugh and constant smile. A couple of years ago Kim and I reunited on myspace and we talked online. She spoke very deeply of her love for her family and her special love for her grandchildren. She said that being a grandparent was the best part of life. She was always a kind and sweet person and someone who always made me laugh. It seems so sad that someone with such a great passion for life, left us so quickly. We love you Kimmie!

I am very sadden to hear about Kim's passing. I did not know she had been Ill. My prayers go out to her Children, Family and Friends. From what I remember Kim always had a smile on her face and was always there if you needed a helping hand. You never know what you have missed until they are gone.
