Denise Marie Melvin, 51, of Castle Rock passed away Dec. 6, 2010, at St. John Medical Center.

She was born in Landstuihi, German, Nov. 27, 1959, to Air Force Sergeant Walter A. Melvin and Marcia Johnson Melvin. She attended schools in Castle Rock and Longview.

Denise is survived by her mother, Marcia Fischer; a son, Walt; a grandson, Isaac; two brothers, Mark Fischer and Eric Saylor; an aunt, Kay Snethen; and many extended relatives and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her father; and her grandparents, Roy and Nona Melvin, and Rae L. and Bernice Johnson.

Denise worked many years as a senior caregiver and most recently as a shuttle driver for the railroad. Her hobbies included camping, floating down the Toutle River, rockhounding and garage sales.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 28 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Castle Rock. Interment will take place at Whittle-Hubbard Cemetery in Castle Rock.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Matthew’s.
