Ronald L. ‘Ron’ Belland
Marine Corps Veteran

It is with great sorrow we report the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Ronald Lee “Ron” Belland went to be with the Lord on Jan. 11, 2014, at his home in Battle Ground, Wash.

He was born June 15, 1960, in Bellingham to Wanda Lee Brezee Hulings and Robert Gene Belland. Ron graduated from Mark Morris High School in 1978. He proudly served his country as a Marine and was a reserve officer with the Kelso Police Department.

Ron married his wife, Susan, on July 23, 1983. He graduated as a registered nurse from Lower Columbia College in 1996. Part of his heart was always in Honduras and Africa, where he spent time as a medical missionary, and with his beloved Seahawks.

Ron will be remembered by his loving wife, Susan; his children Aaron (Lou), Jarrod (Sara), Kristen (Heather) and Shaun (Jennifer); his grandchildren Tony, Macey, Jaxon, Becca, Ethan and William; and his siblings Pam Hulings, Don Hulings (Kris), Don Belland (Karen), Dale Hulings (Kathy), Steve Belland (Mel), Mark Hulings (Cori), Darren Hulings (Chris) and David Hulings.

A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at Landmark Church, 1504 W. Main St. in Battle Ground.

Arrangements are by Columbia Funeral Service.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to all Ronald's family and friends from his MMHS 1978 classmates.

Ron was my best friend from about the 3rd grade on. Over the past several years we did not have alot of contact even though he only lived in Battle Ground.  I find myself wishing I would have stayed in closer contact but I do find comfort in knowing that Ron has been a long term Christian and is in the hands on his heavenly father.  This man was such a great man, friend, father and husband and will be missed dearly.

I never knew Ron like so many others had. I wish that I had. In reading Jim's post and in hearing from others, it is very clear that Ron was a Christian man who possessed a very unique and special soul.  A man, husband, father and grandfather who will be forever missed.  May you forever rest in peace, Ron.
